BOSTON — As soon as the National Weather Service issued a tornado warning Monday morning, it triggered a very loud emergency alert on every cell phone in the affected area.
MEMA Director Kurt Schwartz lives in concord himself and explained how the alert works.
“If you live in the impacted or warning area you get the alert. If you don’t, you didn’t hear it. But for those of us who live here, my cell phone went off. My wife’s went off we were awoken with 15 minutes advance notice,” he said.
The FOX25 weather app will also alert you to severe weather alerts for your specific location.
