HOLLISTON -- If an active shooter came into your office, would you know what to do?
Law enforcement agencies have been thinking about it since Columbine and re-strategizing in the wake of the San Bernardino shootings.
Training centers like the Mass Firearms Training Academy in Holliston teach people how to fight back without a gun.
"Can you barricade yourself inside somewhere? Do that," said Kevin Wood, with the academy.
Wood said there are several basic steps that can help save your life.
1. Hide.
"Get out of the line of sight, make yourself invisible. If I'm in this corner, nobody can see me; I'm quiet, nobody can hear me. It's very difficult to do, but it could save your life," said Wood.
2. Try to get yourself and as many people as possible out of danger.
3. Don't be a hero
4. Be armed with the proper information
As gunman opened fire in San Bernardino, Burlington police officers were completing active shooter training.
"All these studies have shown with these active lethal threats is we have to get there quickly," said Sgt. Timothy McDonough with the Burlington Police Department.
Police say that nowadays every second counts, so they are training for quick responses.
