Hot, busy and slow. That's the potential forecast for riding the T Wednesday as the heat wave stretches into a fourth day in Boston, with temperatures expected to again hit 90.
The MBTA says trains and trolleys might need to operate at slower speeds because of heat-impacts on the tracks, adding to "slightly longer travel times." In a post on the T's website about preparing for extreme heat, they warned the hot weather could also cause overhead wires to expand and sag, so additional staff will be watching for low wires.
Due to extreme temperatures forecast for today & tomorrow, trains may travel slowly in some areas to reduce heat-related stress on the tracks. We have crews stationed around the system to perform inspections and provide additional assistance. Learn more: https://t.co/dBUIQQ24tm pic.twitter.com/aMV985FcV7

Crews are ready to respond, but any emergency repairs and track inspections could add travel time, they warned.
And if your train or bus is hotter than it should be, the T wants to know. Note the bus or train number and tell the train operator or an MBTA station worker, call 617-222-3200, send the T a message, or tweet @MBTA.
