QUINCY, Mass. — Quincy is one of the more than 100 cities and towns getting free at-home test kits. The city met first thing Tuesday morning to talk about how they would get the tests into people’s hands before the holiday.
The test kits started going out within a day of the governor announcing the plan. Quincy said it will send their kits to shelters like Father Bill’s and health centers like Manet Community Health.
Marli Caslli said Quincy will distribute their test kits immediately.

“We want to make sure that everybody has the fair access; first come first serve. They are limited supply at each facility,” Caslli said. “The test kits all have two tests each.
“Our first goal is to make sure our partners get these kits and then, going forward, we want to make sure it is one kit per household. If that is not enough, they can call our department and we can provide additional test kits.”
The health commissioner said they will be tracking who is getting the test kits to make sure they are being distributed fairly. But it may be difficult for a family who wants to test a group of 8-10 people to do it all with the free kits.
“It is not enough with a pandemic. We are a city of 101,600, and to receive 18,900 kits, we have a ways to go,” Caslli said.
Quincy is expecting to get their supply by Wednesday, and they will be turning them right around and sending them to the locations. Most cities and towns are handling the process differently, so the best advice is to reach right out to your health department.
