Need a manicure? Nail salons are open again in Mass.

NOW PLAYING ABOVE

DEDHAM, Mass. — It is a luxury in many people’s lives: manicures. Nail salons are now open again but with noticeable changes: safety measures in place.

Across the Commonwealth, it’s like a grand re-opening for many nail salons.

“I can say last night, I woke up in the middle of the night and said, ‘Oh my god, I’m going to go to work today,’” said Tracy Lee, owner of Oasis Nails and Day Spa in Dedham.

Tracy and Chih Lee are excited to be back open. Monday, their phones were ringing nonstop.

For the past three years, they’ve owned Oasis Nails and Day Spa serving customers in the Dedham area, but for the past three months their doors remained shut.

"We've been doing a lot of projects inside the salon to try to get ready for the reopening," said Lee.

“They’re a mess. I’m used to getting my nails done every couple of weeks,” said customer Barbara Bowman.

On Monday, nail salons started serving clients.

New guidelines include:

-Services by appointment only

-If a nail technician isn't ready, customers need to wait outside or in their cars

-No guests are allowed in with the customer except for caretakers or guardians

Before entering, you’ll see safety signage. Once you’re in, you’ll notice plexiglass partitions at nail stations, which are at least six feet apart. Nail technicians are required to wear gloves and face coverings are required for everyone.

All of the services are still available and nail salon owners say their customers are happy to go with the changes put in place.

“I know everyone in this industry been through same, difficult time. We all understand,” Lee said.
