Cambridge law firm offering a year of free cuts for the worst ‘quarantine hair’

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — A week and a half into phase one of Gov. Charlie Baker’s plan to resume economic activity in Massachusetts, residents across the Commonwealth are sitting down in salons to finally shear off their ‘quarantine hair.’

As most businesses like salons have been shuttered since early March, some heads are a hot mess -- whether with a an overgrown head of hair or a self-inflicted homemade hair disaster.

Cambridge law firm Altman & Altman is teaming up with Somerville’s Str8 Edge Barbershop to reward the hairiest hold-out with a harried hairdo.

The winner of the contest will get a year’s worth of free haircuts from Str8 Edge (that’s 24 cuts).

The Instagram-based contest requires people to post a photo of their current look using the hashtag #CheckAltmanChallenge to enter to win. The winner will be selected Friday night at 8 p.m. and the first cut will be redeemable when Mayor Curtatone allows Somerville barbershops and salons to reopen.

Altman & Altman also donated 150 catered lunches to front line workers at Boston Medical Center last week.

There have already been some contenders posted.
