Gas price war benefits customers in Holbrook

HOLBROOK, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- If you're low on gas and are searching for a good deal, you might want to head to Holbrook where some friendly competition is doing some good for customers' wallets.

The two gas stations: Sal's Gas and E-J's, both on Franklin Street are locked in a heated price war. Both of those stores have been lowering their gas prices penny by penny to try to beat the other. At last check Saturday, E-J's was down to $3.07 per gallon and Sal's was at $3.06. Both are well below the state average of $3.43 and the national average of $3.35.

Sal of Sal's Gas says that they have no intention waving the white flag anytime soon, and he went on to say he thinks he can keep up it up for a while because he has the income from repairs and inspections to fall back on. And according to Sal, his competitor does not have the same fall back.

In fact, Sal says he's willing to go as low as $2.97 a gallon!
