Frozen slush makes digging out in Boston a tough chore

BOSTON — One day after the snow, it's clean-up time in Boston.

Students had another day off, but for many people it was back to work in a city blanked in snow and ice.

“It was pretty thick and I knew it was going to be pretty bad getting out here," said Southie resident Jackie Bonneau.

The total amounts of snow in the end were not that impressive for Boston, but what happened after the snow stopped falling turned shoveling into an excavation project.

"I should have did it yesterday, but I didn't want to come out in the slush,” explained Dorchester resident Linda Prater.

Prater's sidewalk is supposed to be cleared three hours after the snow stopped falling or three hours after daylight since the storm went into the night. She's not quite there.

“I'm in trouble,” she laughed. “I am in trouble. Hopefully they will give me some slack because I'm trying."
