BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- The MBTA is preparing for an influx of passengers on Monday as spectators gather to watch runners participate in the 2015 Boston Marathon.
Marathon Monday, April 20, falls on the state holiday Patriots' Day, but the MBTA will not be running on a reduced holiday schedule. Instead, service will be boosted to rush-hour levels before and after the race.
Bus routes in and around Copley Square will be detoured around the marathon, and Copley Station itself will be closed for the day. Three Green Line stops - South Street, Kent Street and St. Mary's Street - will be closed from 10 a.m. to approximately 6 p.m.
Due to expected congestion, bicycles will not be allowed on any commuter rail trains on Monday.
