SPENCER, Mass. — Local part-time firefighter was fired after he allegedly took cell phone video of a naked woman in a tanning bed.

Police say Duane Stephens was a member at Guaranteed Fitness in Spencer when he snuck into the tanning booth area. He allegedly pushed a selfie stick through a vent in the tanning booth room to record the video.

Police said the woman spotted the cell phone near the ceiling and yelled at Stephens, who ran from the gym.

Stephens wrote a confession, according to court documents, that said in part, "I, Duane Stephens, was dumb and took pictures of an innocent nude woman in the gym...I regret what I did and will never do anything of this nature again. EVER."

The woman told police she had seen Stephens following her through the gym before she went into the tanning bed.

The gym's owner told FOX25 after his arrest, they reviewed activity logs and now believe Stephens may have fixated on the woman several days before, timing his sessions to match hers.

Also in the confession Stephens wrote, "I deleted all the pictures. I swear I was never going to post or upload any photos or send anywhere, ever. "

Town officials fired Stephens upon learning of his arrest and confession. He's been charged with one count of photographing an unsuspecting nude person.
