Firefighters had to stay out of the building and fight the flames from outside. Crews were able to keep the fire contained; it did not spread to any other buildings. No patient services were disrupted.
Investigators are asking for help learning more about the fire. The cause is still under investigation and fire officials are hoping people can share information that will help them figure out what happened.

Statement from McLean Hospital:
Early this morning, McLean Hospital's Codman Building, which was not currently being used, caught fire, resulting in significant damage to the building. Thanks to the Belmont Fire Department's rapid response, the fire was contained to that one building and no other areas of the McLean campus were affected.
Since it was a closed building in a remote area of the McLean campus, no evacuations were needed and no patient care services were disrupted. At this time, the cause of the fire is unclear, but we will work closely with the Belmont Fire Department during their investigation.
We are deeply grateful to the Belmont Fire Department, Belmont Police Department, and first responders from surrounding municipalities for their efforts this morning.
