HINGHAM, Mass. — Police in Hingham arrested a man they say pulled out a gun during an argument inside a restaurant.
According to court records, a 911 call from the Gourmet Garden Restaurant was made just before 9 p.m. on Tuesday reporting a male customer pointing a gun at the head of a female customer.
According to court documents, when police asked the man if he had identification, the man stated, “His name was ‘Mike Doyle’ and that he was an FBI supervisor.” The man told another member of the police that he was an FBI agent. When police searched him and found an FBI identification and badge.
James M. Doyle, 55, of Duxbury, was arrested and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, carrying a firearm while intoxicated, and disorderly conduct.
Sing La, a bartender at the restaurant, said he remembered seeing Doyle react after two women started arguing.
"I only served him one drink and he didn't even take a sip out of it," he said. "I've never see something like that happen before. I've been there for ten years."
Court paperwork shows Doyle’s employer listed as the Boston FBI. FOX25 has reached out for comment, and has been told they are looking into it.
"The FBI takes allegations of misconduct very seriously. We are aware of the matter involving the recent arrest of an FBI employee and are fully cooperating with the Hingham, MA Police Department and the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office. This matter has been referred to the FBI's Internal Investigations Section in Washington, DC, as well as the Department of Justice's Office of Inspector General. Because this is an ongoing personnel matter, we will not comment further."
Police said Doyle and the woman knew each other and court documents say he admitted to pointing the gun at her and having several drinks.
Doyle was arraigned Wednesday and released, he is due back in court in April. His attorney couldn’t be reached for comment.
