Family on edge after Marblehead home targeted repeatedly

MARBLEHEAD, Mass. — Residents in a historic Marblehead home say they are on edge after someone has repeatedly targeted their home for three nights in a row.

Alex Hortaridis says someone has been throwing rocks the size of baseballs through their windows from their neighbor's front yard.

"About the size of a baseball [went] through my daughter’s window," said Hortaridis. "Went through the first window, second window."

The family has since installed more surveillance cameras outside their home after it happened for the first time, bu say that it seems to only been getting worse.

"Now none of us can sleep, we are all exhausted [and] I wake up in the middle of the night if I don’t hear my daughter screaming in my head I hear a window breaking," said Hortaridis.

The nightmare on 135 Elm Street began on Monday night when a rock came flying through a window in the downstairs living room where Alyssa Conrad usually lays her head.

“The instant the glass shattered my daughter just screamed [and] I told her to call 911," said Conrad.

After the first scare, the family upped their security around the house, but all to no avail. The following night, their house was egged.

“I thought no way are they coming back a third night," said Hortaridis.

The third night, Hortaridis says another cobblestone cam crashing through their 13-year-old daughter's upstairs window.

“It’s exhausting for all of us, it’s terrifying - she’s not sleeping at night," said Conrad. "We had to move her bed from the window."

Boards and blankets have been set up on the windows damaged by the stones, but the family says it's been tough to contain the fear of it happening again, or that something worse could happen next.

"It's like terrorism, you're screwed, you don't get to do this to people," said Hortaridis.

Hortaridis has been working with police to try to find the culprit. After reviewing security footage, police put parts of it on their Facebook page, showing the main suspect, who appears to be very young.

The family says they've watched the surveillance video over and over, but still remain puzzled as to who has been targeting them and why.
