MERRIMACK, N.H. — Dozens of people are out thousands of dollars after a New Hampshire photography studio abruptly closed and left families who paid for unfinished work in the lurch.
A state investigation is now underway after Pixel Perfect Photography closed shop without any notice to people who have already paid for portraits.
“You can’t put a price tag on my daughter’s photos. I don’t know if I’ll have another baby and I just wanted everything I could get of her, and to find out I might never get that, it’s heartbreaking,” Danielle Russo said.
Russo, a cancer survivor, had signed up for a $6,000 package from Pixel Perfect that included portraits taken every three months starting with her daughter’s birth through her first birthday, and a photo book at the end.
“We only had one session left, it’s kind of heartbreaking that you wait for the whole year to happen and then everything just crumbles down last minute,” she said.
On Tuesday, an email was sent to customers explaining that the business was closing for reasons out of their control. Since then more than 100 customers have been trying to get answers.
“I felt like I was one of those people on the news and now here I am, I’m one of those people. I feel like I got scammed for a small fortune,” Russo said.
We tried to get in touch with the company’s owner, but much like the Attorney General’s office, we weren’t able to reach anyone. The company’s website is shut down, calls and emails are unanswered, and the lights at Pixel Perfect are shut off.
Russo said she hopes the owner comes through, because her baby’s photos were planned as holiday gifts for family.
“I’m glad I’m not the only one, which is awful to say, but I know we're all in this together and don’t mess with a mama and her baby’s pictures,” she said.
In the email that went out to customers, Pixel Perfect stated that completed work would be sent via US mail, but there were not any directions for people who had unfinished sessions that were already paid for.
The Attorney General is telling families impacted by the closure to file a complaint on their website, and be sure to upload any bills or contracts that have signed.
