BOSTON — A deadly crash shut down the Sumner Tunnel in Boston early Friday morning.
According to Massachusetts State Police, one person was killed in the crash. Two others were sent to the hospital.
Police say the 2002 Dodge Ram pickup truck lost control around 3:10 a.m. and crashed near the ramp to Route 93 northbound.
One man was killed in the crash. Two other men were injured and taken to area hospitals.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
TIMELINE
Following the crash at 3:10 a.m., all lanes of the Sumner Tunnel were closed. All traffic was detoured to the Ted Williams Tunnel westbound.

Just past 4:50 a.m., one lane of the Sumner Tunnel was reopened.

Around 5:05 a.m., Mass. State Police said the tunnel was reopened. The ramp to Route 93 northbound remained closed.

Around 5:40 a.m., the ramp to Route 93 was reopened.

Throughout the morning, commuters were urged to use the MBTA and avoid the area.
