FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — The New England Patriots are poised to make history Sunday afternoon in a rematch of Super Bowl XXXVI against the now Los Angeles Rams.
With Tom Brady on the brink of becoming the winningest quarterback in NFL history, the Rams are an appropriate opponent as that magic season is where it all began and the Pats brought home the first Super Bowl in franchise history.
In “Dawn of a Dynasty,” FOX25 is taking a look back at that memorable season and the legacy that has followed. It starts at 10 a.m. on FOX25, just two hours before the Pats and Rams will kick off in Foxborough.
Brady has gotten to 200 wins faster than any other quarterback in history and he’s the most successful postseason quarterback in the history of the league. He has made six trips to the Super Bowl so far and is gunning for number seven this year.
Despite playing through pain, Brady is as sharp as ever this year.
Brett Favre, Peyton Manning and Tom Brady – the top three winningest quarterbacks – have combined to win almost 600 games. The next quarterback on the list, John Elway, sits 37 games back with just 162 wins.
The path to that 2001 Super Bowl was epic and paved with unforgettable moments like the ‘Snow Bowl,’ The Andruzzi brothers in the wake of 9/11, the win in Pittsburgh, the Brady/Bledsoe battle for the starting spot, the second most famous field goal in Patriots history and the infamous tuck rule.
We’re looking back at all of it on FOX25 at 10 a.m. You can also watch in the player below.
