Cows break out from farm, wander Peabody neighborhood

PEABODY, Mass. — It's not something you typically see on the streets, cows running loose in Peabody.

FOX25 was there as 15 heifers decided to take a stroll around one neighborhood.

“I came up on my deck and they all came swarming around my pool,” Kelly Adamson said.

Ted Dunajski is the farm owner, he says he was out of town and got a call about what happened.

“Some of the heifers that were out on pasture, I guess they knocked a couple of rails off the fence and they got out,” he said.

It happened around 5:30 p.m. on Buxton Lane.

The Dunajski Dairy Farm has been around for 100 years, and workers knew exactly what to do.

“My daughter and the workers got them right back in,” Dunajski said.

All the while, shocked homeowners watched as the cows were running through their yards.

Peabody police were on hand making sure the heifers weren't getting out of hand.

“They’re just curious. You know the old story, the grass is always greener on the other side,” Dunajski said.
