BOSTON — A company claims it's new technology has emerged that can detect consumption of both smoked and edible marijuana, and it's in the form of a portable breathalyzer.
Previously, marijuana intake had to be measured in saliva, urine, or blood, which can be a time consuming process.
Hound Labs, Inc. said their breathalyzer immediately detects and measures THC, a chemical substance that alters brain functions.
The breathalyzer allows law enforcement to measure THC in the breath within the first few hours of consumption, when users are most impaired, according to the company.
In Massachusetts, medical marijuana is already legal and this fall voters will get to decide about full legalization.
