Community holds vigil for missing Hanson woman

HANSON, Mass. — It's been over two months since Sandra Crispo went missing.

So far, police are looking into every possible detail and looking underneath every rock in Hanson to figure out what happened to the 54-year-old.

"This could be anyone's mother, this could be anyone's sister, friend, aunt, grandmother, you just don't go missing like this," said Peggy Simon, Crispo's friend.

At the vigil on Saturday afternoon, held at noon due to the high risk of EEE in the area, Cripo's family said they only want one thing - for the beloved grandmother to come home safely.

Sandra Crispo was last seen on August 7 in her Spofford Avenue home, and since then has had no contact with family members as police continued to investigate.

"There's sadness in her absence and grief at the loss we fear to be permanent," said Tim McMahon, Crispo's son-in-law.

Dozens gathered near the Hanson Town Hall to remember the missing woman.

"I basically just want to shed light on the situation and spread more awareness on what's happening in the town of Hanson and get the word out that a woman has been missing and needs to come home," said Laina McMahon, Crispo's daughter. "The last time I saw her was a typical day, she had watched my children, everything was normal, there was nothing out of place."

Since then, Laina has organized searches for her mother and now, the candlelight vigil.

Crispo's family says they need strength right now, as friends help them keep their spirits up in hopes Crispo will soon walk through the door.

"There is also hope, hope that we'll soon have answers," said Tim McMahon. "Hope that this nightmare that Sandra's family is living, will soon be over."
