Carver food pantry worker accused of stealing meals meant for less fortunate

CARVER, Mass. — A food pantry cook in Carver is accused of stealing food from the less fortunate.

David Lavoie has been the cook at Carver Council on Aging for more than six years, but now has resigned and is facing larceny and conspiracy charges, along with two others.

Lavoie, his girlfriend Tracey Archer, and her adult daughter Kimberly Parkman were allegedly carrying trays of food meant for those who can’t afford to eat out the back door.

“I just can't believe that he would steal. He's not that kind of a person,” Jim Collins, a guest at the Council on Aging, said.

Carver police tell FOX25, they were tipped off about this during the late summer months after food went missing.

One day when prime rib was on the menu board, the folks were served buffalo chicken wings, which had never been ordered for the council on aging before.

“He ordered a large prime that went missing, and other items,” Carve Police Chief Marc Duphily said.

That is when folks started to get suspicious.

“The palates of the people who eat the food, are more of a Bland nature and not usually buffalo chicken wings. Not something that's normally served to an elderly population,” Duphily said.

Police said they have video that shows Lavoie going into the pantry after hours and walking out with trays.

Cans of food donated to the Meals on Wheels program run by the Council on Aging were also stolen, investigators said.

“If you bring in food and donate food, for the needy and people come in and get what they need,” Sam Keller, a guest at the Council on Aging, said.

FOX25 went to the Plymouth house where Lavoie and his girlfriend live, a woman came to the porch but didn’t want to comment.

He has since resigned from his position. All three are facing larceny and conspiracy charges.
