BOSTON — Late Thursday afternoon the brother of the man who killed an auburn police officer was in court facing criminal charges of his own.
Giancarlo Zambrano was in West Roxbury District Court to pay restitution to a victim that he’s owed for more than two years,
Giancarlo’s case was thrust into the spotlight this week after his twin brother Jorge Zambrano died in a gun battle with police Sunday after he killed Auburn police officer Ron Tarentino during a traffic stop.
Giancarlo was nowhere to be found when the judge first called his case in court Thursday morning.
He's facing a larceny charge, accused of charging a woman $7,000 for a vinyl siding job he never started. Court records say he never paid the victim back.
When he didn't show, the judge issued a bench warrant for his arrest, but several hours later Giancarlo arrived and dropped off a check for $4,000. The judge said he has until October to pay back the rest.
Giancarlo has a criminal history dating back to 2000 that includes arrests for drug and traffic problems.
