Brookline police warn residents of serial flasher

BROOKLINE, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Brookline police are warning residents about a flasher in the area.

Olivia, a freshman at Boston University, was shaking after a man followed her recently at night.

“He just came up behind me and I was like, whoa that's really close, so I stepped over to the sidewalk again,” she said.

Even though she moved over, she says the man “just ran up behind me and then in front of me.” Then, the unexpected happened. She says he blocked her path, “and pulled it all out.”

This has happened six times since January, and three times alone on Easter Sunday, according to officials. Olivia says he looked about 25 years old and was wearing a black hoodie, with the hood over his head, and black pants.

The flasher is marking his territory in the area of Babcock, Freeman and the surrounding streets.

“I just want to say don't do this in my neighborhood, take it elsewhere,” she said.

Boston University sent an alert to students Tuesday night, and some students say they are worried. But Olivia doesn't want women to be scared; she wants them to be prepared.

“If anything at all feels strange, definitely look around and make sure you are away and step out of the path,” she said.

Brookline police have since increased patrols in the area. If you want to report something suspicious, call 617-730-2222.
