Brockton pursuit leads to multiple charges and arrests

BROCKTON, Mass. — A Massachusetts State Police pursuit into Brockton led to two arrests early Friday morning.

Just after 2 a.m., Trooper Thomas Shruhan observed a blue 2018 Mercedes-Benz sedan, which was the subject of a “Be On the Lookout” bulletin for fleeing the area of a shots fired call in Mattapan on January 2nd. Trooper Shruhan followed the vehicle onto Route 24 southbound, where he was backed up by Troopers Joseph Connor and Aaron Richardson. The three troopers attempted to initiate a high-risk felony stop, but the vehicle accelerated in an effort to evade them, abruptly exiting Route 24 onto Route 27 eastbound.

The active pursuit was terminated, but troopers observed the vehicle continue down Route 27 toward Brockton. The vehicle’s operator lost control and crashed into a pole at the intersection of Route 27 and West Avenue. State Police responded, as well as Brockton Police, and both occupants were transported to Good Samaritan Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Troopers recovered multiple handguns, ammunition and a ballistic armor vest carrier from the vehicle. Both occupants are charged with illegal possession of firearms, carrying loaded firearms, possession of a large capacity feeding device and unlawful possession of ammunition. They have been identified as Jhovanni Jackson, 21, of the Bronx, New York, and Aquan A. Hudson, 22, of Brockton.

Jackson, who drove the vehicle, is additionally charged with multiple motor vehicle offenses, using body armor in a felony, resisting arrest and refusing to identify himself to police. Hudson was found to be the subject of two outstanding warrants and was additionally charged accordingly. Hudson has been booked at a State Police barracks and is expected to be arraigned Friday in Brockton District Court. Jackson remains hospitalized at this time.
