Police urge community to help find East Boston shooting suspect

Boston Police are urging the community to come forward to help them find the suspect in a fatal East Boston shooting.

The overnight shooting left a 29-year-old dead, who leaves behind two sons.

Boston Police Commissioner Bill Evans urged witnesses to come forward to help police find the killer.

"If anyone heard anything or has seen anything, we're looking for them to step up and help us get who's responsible for this death," Evans said.

Neighbors in the area were sad to hear about the shooting, but said they weren't surprised.

"No matter what he did or whatever, you're still not supposed to get killed," one neighbor said. "There's no security at all around this place. None whatsoever."

Several neighbors said they've seen gang activity and drugs by the Shore Plaza East complex before.

"I think if they had security, it may not have even happened," the neighbor said. "But, at night out here, you run your own risk. Nobody around, whatever happens, it's dangerous."

Many other residents in the area didn't want to speak on camera about the shooting for fear of gang retaliation.
