Boston Globe writer 'mildly' insults Atlanta fans, columnist fires back

BOSTON — Boston Globe sports columnist Dan Shaughnessy is less than impressed with the Atlanta sports fan base and he made his thoughts known Tuesday morning in his latest column.

"When it comes to Atlanta and its sports fans, we feel nothing. Maybe a little pity," Shaughnessy writes.

Obviously, his dismissive attitude hasn't gone over well with the Falcons faithful and a sports columnist from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution has already fired back with his own take on the matchup.

"As insults go, Dan Shaughnessy’s Boston Globe missive regarding Atlanta and its sports is as mild as it gets," Mark Bradley writes.

In a little over 700 words, Bradley hardly says anything insulting about Boston -- beyond calling the Patriots insufferably "arrogant."

Overall, it's really a very southern exchange of opinions. Each writer basically says "oh, bless your heart."
