Body of 61-year-old man pulled from Charles River in Boston

BOSTON — Investigators pulled a 61-year-old man's body from the Charles River just below the Longfellow Bridge on Friday evening.

According to police, the man has been connected to a local homeless shelter though police have not yet identified him publicly.

State Police say a man walking on the Longfellow Bridge saw a body floating in the river and called 911 shortly before 6 p.m. Friday evening. Minutes later, State Police Marine Unit divers pulled the remains out of the water. Detectives and crime scene techs were also on scene.

Police say there were no obvious signs of trauma to the body. The investigation is still ongoing.
