Band with local ties flying deserving person to Super Bowl

After receiving the invitation to take the Super Bowl stage, Recycled Percussion decided to take one lucky person on the wild ride.

As part of a contest, the band is flying one deserving person from New Hampshire down with them to hang out at all the Super Bowl festivities.

As a junior at Goffstown High School, Justin Spencer and some friends started playing junk rock - music made with everyday items and tools.

“I remember for the first time, getting a $200 check to play and being like, dude this means we are rich!” he said.

But that was only the beginning; Recycled Percussion is now a headline act at Planet Hollywood in Vegas, a deal they inked after gaining national fame on a reality TV competition.

Which is why when Recycled Percussion got a bid to play in the 2017 Super Bowl pregame, and the Patriots clinched the title, it was music to his ears. And he decided to share the wealth.

"I am more thrilled to show up on the doorstep of this individual Friday and surprise them than I am to play the Super Bowl myself," said Spencer.

On Facebook, Spencer announced the contest and asked he said they received thousands of submissions, but one person stuck out as truly deserving.

On Friday, he's going to surprise someone with tickets to the big game.

"I'm like a kid on Christmas, I can wait to show how humanity can rise above and make a difference and that's really what this is all about," he said.

Spencer knows what the love of football is all about - not only is he a Patriots fan, but he wife was a Patriots cheerleader.

"This is a great opportunity for us to make somebody else's world feel as exciting as our own," he said.

After surprising the individual Friday, they will head to Boston Logan for their flight Saturday. Spencer is inviting all his fans to be at the airport Saturday for a rally to send them to Houston.
