Footage above a plane crash in the Everglades led to a disturbing discovery on Thursday.
The Federal Aviation Administration told WPLG that a Cessna 152 crashed in the Everglades about 7 miles west of Homestead with only the pilot on board.
The single-engine plane could been seen from a WPLG helicopter and an alligator was spotted wading near a body in the water. A tweet from WPLG managing editor Pete Burke indicates that the gator appeared to be eating the body.
Our chopper is above the scene of a wrecked plane in the Everglades. A gator appears to be chewing on a body next to the wreckage.

It is unclear what airport the plane took off from or where it was heading. The pilot’s ID has not yet been released.
