EAST BRIDGEWATER, Mass. — An alert East Bridgewater police officer help prevent what could have been a potentially disastrous situation.
Officer Richard Eldridge was on patrol just before 10 p.m. Thursday when he pulled into the Johnny Macaroni’s parking lot on Plymouth Street and came across an unresponsive man in a car that was still in drive.
Eldridge called for the fire department and maneuvered his cruiser to prevent the car from moving.

Minutes later, the man woke up and rolled down his window. He told police he pulled over because he was tired.
An ambulance showed up at the scene, but the man refused treatment.
