2 people dead after Fall River crash

FALL RIVER - Police in Fall River say speed may have contributed to an early-morning car crash that killed two men.

The men were in a car that struck a utility pole and a traffic signal pole. The accident happened at about 2 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of President Avenue and Robeson Street.

The two men were pronounced dead at the scene. Police are withholding their names until relatives are notified.

Police Lt. Roger LaFleur told the Herald News (http://bit.ly/OKRjRc ) that a preliminary investigation determined that speed was a factor in the crash.

The intersection remained closed for several hours after the accident.
