BROCKTON, Mass. — Two Brockton firefighters suffered second degree burns Tuesday after pulling an man out of a burning apartment.

Crews first responded around 4 p.m. to the home at Madrid Square. Callers reported to emergency responders that a man was trapped on his balcony.
Battling heavy flames, Lieutenant Christopher O'Reilly and Firefighter Zachery Davis rescued the man from the third floor, lifting him over a railing. Firefighter Benjamin Denny then carried the man to the ground.
The rescued man suffered burns and was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital before being transferred to Massachusetts General Hospital.
Lieutenant O'Reilly and Firefighter Davis are also being treated at Mass. General. The firefighters were commended for their bravery.
"I am very proud of the members and the job that they did under extraordinary conditions. I am not surprised at the bravery they showed as this is what we are prepared to do every day," Fire Chief Michael Williams said.
At least 30 people were displaced from the building.
