MALDEN (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – A 17-year-old Malden man was arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred at the intersection of Warren Avenue and Eastern Avenue late Monday morning.
Police responded to the intersection around 10:31 a.m. and found a 17-year-old with a gun shot wound. The victim was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital to be treated for his injury.
Tyler Berberena, Jr., 17, of Malden, was arrested Monday and will face attempted murder and possession of a large-capacity firearm charges. He will be arraigned in Malden District Court on Tuesday.
According to police, Berberena and the victim were known to each other and had arranged to meet when the shooting occurred.
Two schools in the area, Linden Elementary School and the Ferryway School, were in safe mode for a time, but were later cleared.
