NEWTON, Mass. – Police are investigating after one person was seriously injured after being hit by a car in Newton.
The crash happened on Waltham Street around 6:30 p.m. near the Highlander Laundromat.
Boston 25 News has learned a 48-year-old man was crossing the street when he was hit. He was taken to Beth Israel Hospital.

Police said the driver of the car, a man in his 20s, did stay at the scene.
Officers had the street closed for several hours while the reconstructed the crash and tested the brakes on the car.
The condition of the man who was hit is unclear at this time.
