1 dead in Milford shooting

MILFORD, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- One man was killed and another seriously injured after a shooting in Milford Sunday.

The Worcester County DA's office confirmed that the shots were fired in the back parking lot of the Holiday Inn Express on Fortune Boulevard at about 10:30 a.m.

Thomas E. Coburn III, 51, of Hopkinton was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. The Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.

Christian Nealon, 48, also of Hopkinton was also transported to the hospital, stabilized, and then taken by helicopter to a Worcester hospital. He is being treated for serious injuries. A woman at the scene of the shooting apparently escaped without injury.

An early investigation showed that Coburn confronted Nealon and the woman in the parking lot of the Holiday Inn. Police say both men had guns and fired them.

Nealon and the woman went back into the hotel to report the shooting and call an ambulance for Nealon. Coburn was found in his car with what police believe was an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The investigation into this incident remains ongoing.
