Jesse Camp, who skyrocketed to fame in 1998 for winning MTV’s inaugural "Wanna Be a VJ" contest, has been reported missing by his family.
Josiah "Jesse" Camp, 38, was reported missing to Riverside, Calif. police by his sister Marisha Camp on July 19, according to Officer Ryan Railsback, public information officer for the Riverside Police Department.
"His normal reporting contact with family members stopped a week prior and they were concerned," Railsback tells USA TODAY, adding that no foul play or imminent danger was suspected at this time for Camp.
Camp's sister reported that her brother had last been seen in, and had frequented, Riverside, a city about an hour east of Los Angeles.
"There’s nothing suspicious about him being missing at this time other than him not being in contact with his family," Railsback said.
Marisha Camp also put out word on her Instagram account.
"Jesse was last seen in California last week but has not reached out to us yet," she wrote in an Instagram story post. "What he needs more than anything is kindness and love...If you see him, please let him know that many, many people care."
Police put out a notice on social media about Camp. Given that details about Camp's missing status have already gone viral, "hopefully he’ll see it or someone he’s with will see that and he’ll contact his family to let them know he’s okay," says Railsback.
The onetime heartthrob has been out of the spotlight, but gave a bizarre, rambling gossip report in 2016 interview for Page Six.
