(MyFoxBoston.com) -- Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker announced in his afternoon news conference that the travel ban for the state's four western counties has been lifted, however a travel ban still persists along the Mass. Pike, and state police have advised that road conditions remain dangerous throughout much of the state.
Though the snow is fluffy, blowing wind has created large snow drifts, and some areas have icy roads underneath the snow.
Keeping the roads clear is "frustrating" because of the constantly shifting drifts, Trooper Daniel Richard tweeted, and visibility remains poor from Cape Cod to the North Shore.
State police have asked people to stay off the roads until the travel ban is lifted.
