BOSTON — Andrew Benintendi will sit out Friday night's game against the Blue Jays for bereavement, according to the Red Sox.
The news comes after Benintendi and the major league-leading Red Sox claimed their 10th straight victory when David Price pitches against All-Star lefty J.A. Happ and the Toronto Blue Jays at Fenway Park.
Benintendi had six consecutive multihit games and has scored in all of them going into Thursday night's game.
Benintendi will be replaced by Sam Travis, who has been called up from the PawSox.
Travis has appeared in four games for Boston this season and has six runs in 57 games for Pawtucket.
