PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla — Red Sox manager John Farrell told reporters before Wednesday's game his 25-man opening day roster is set, barring any unforeseen setbacks or surprises.

Roenis Elias was optioned to Pawtucket after struggling in his last few outings of the spring. Elias was used out of the bullpen on Sunday and struggled, citing afterward a lack of rest as one of the reasons for his trouble.

With Elias assignment, the roster is set for Monday's season opener and Steven Wright has won the job as the Red Sox fifth starter.

David Price, Clay Buchholz, Rick Porcello, Joe Kelly and Wright will comprise the rotation. Tommy Layne, Robbie Ross, Jr., Koji Uehara, Junichi Tazawa, Craig Kimbrel, Matt Barnes and Noe Ramirez will round out the pitching staff.

David Ortiz will be the designated hitter.

Hanley Ramirez, Dustin Pedroia, Xander Bogaerts, Travis Shaw and Pablo Sandoval will be the infielders.

Farrell hasn't announced who will start at third base to start the season.

Jackie Bradley, Jr., Mookie Betts, Brock Holt, Chris Young and Rusney Castillo will be the outfielders.

Blake Swihart and Ryan Hanigan will be the catcher.
