Pedro speaks out about Boston and racism

Boston — Many people have spoken out about Boston being a racist city since Baltimore Orioles outfielder Adam Jones claimed that a fan at Fenway used a racial slur toward him on Monday, May 1.

Former Red Sox and Baseball Hall of Famer Pedro Martinez finally got his chance to speak out on this subject at his charity event at Fenway Park on Saturday, May 6.

A very opinionated Martinez defended Boston's diversity and had some very strong words about fans who who feel comfortable slinging racial slurs in Boston.

When it comes to diversity on the Boston sports scene, Pedro Martinez has had more of an impact that any athlete in Boston history.

From 1998 to 2004, the friendly confines of Fenway Park were a melting pot of fans of all races.
