Trent Brown will go from blocking for former Patriots quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to the man who taught Garoppolo everything he knows: Tom Brady.

The Patriots traded a third-round pick (95th overall) in the 2018 NFL Draft to the 49ers for Brown and a fifth-round pick (143rd overall).  The deal was originally reported by NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

The team has a void to fill, with Nate Solder leaving New England to head to the New York Giants this offseason.

The move gives the Patriots more protection for Brady on their offensive line, combining with Georgia's Isaiah Wynn, the 23rd overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.
