The Patriots are reportedly adding a new piece to their offensive puzzle, adding wide receiver Demaryius Thomas to the team.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported that the Patriots were signing Thomas to a 1-year deal Tuesday, with the deal worth up to $6 million.

Rapoport said the team had talked about trading for the former Broncos and Texans receiver last year, and decided to make the splash in free agency as the team looks to deal with the loss of tight end Rob Gronkowski to retirement.
