DEDHAM — The New England Patriots are close to signing free agent wide receiver Kenny Britt. Mike Reiss of ESPN was first to report the story.
Britt is a 29 year old, nine year NFL veteran who has played for the Titans, Rams and Browns. Britt was waived by Cleveland this past Friday and was not claimed. Britt was reportedly in Foxboro on Tuesday.
Similar to this time during the end of the 2016 season when the Patriots signed troubled wide receiver Michael Floyd, Britt comes with some baggage of his own as he has had some off field issues over his career. The latest off field issue caused the Browns to release Britt.
The 10-3 Patriots play the 11-2 Steelers in Pittsburgh this Sunday in a game that will have far reaching playoff implications for both teams and for the rest of the AFC.
