Woman seriously injured, 2 dogs die after being hit by driver in Marlborough

MARLBOROUGH, Mass. — A woman was seriously injured and her two dogs died after they were struck by a driver on West Main Street in Marlborough Tuesday night, police said.

Marlborough police were called to a pedestrian crash near Winthrop Street around 8:26 p.m. and found a car with front-end damage and a shattered windshield and a woman with serious injuries, according to a statement from police. Two dogs were also found nearby that had been struck and killed in the crash, police said.

The driver, who stayed at the scene, was believed to have hit the pedestrian near the intersection, while traveling eastbound, according to police.

The woman who was struck was treated at the scene and then transported to a local hospital, police said.

Police have not released the names of the woman or the driver.

An accident reconstruction team is assisting Marlborough police with the crash investigation.
