LOWELL, Mass. — Family and friends of a Lowell mother who was killed this week tell Boston 25 News that Nicole Gamache White was a wonderful person.

White was shot and killed Thursday morning. It took police 30 hours to find the suspect, Ross Elliot, after he had died from a gunshot wound.

“She was too good of a person to die that way, too good,” White’s friend Olga, who asked not to reveal her last name, said.

Olga said White was an amazing mother and friend, but her ex-boyfriend Elliott had recently come back into her life.

“She was talking about him a couple days ago, so it was still going on,” she said.

White’s sister, Michelle Gamche, shared a picture of the two when they were young girls with Boston 25 News.

"He loved her, if he couldn't have her, nobody else could,” Michelle said.

Both women say Elliott was always trying to control White.

“I know he was always trouble, he's been controlling on so many occasions and she always tried to get away from him,” Olga said.

What’s most troubling is that White, who loved her kids so much, was taken just days before Mother’s Day.

“Every conversation we had, every time we'd meet up, it was her talking about her kids."
