CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Several days after being hit by a car in Cambridge, a woman who was crossing the street has died.
Molly Doub was 31 years old when she was hit Sunday evening on Memorial Drive.
Nito Melendez happened to be in an Uber that night and saw the whole thing happen.
“This was not a movie this was real life,” he said. “And then like it hits her. And then I just watch as she gets hit with the full force of this car.”
Melendez had his driver stop so he could go help Doub, who he’d later learn was a teacher at International School of Boston.
“The people that were beside her were also just shocked, just stunned at what they were witnessing,” he said. “So I just yelled at them, ‘what's her name.’”

Doub was hospitalized that night with serious injuries, and Wednesday morning she died.
"We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of our colleague Molly Doub. Molly was a well-liked and respected math teacher in our upper school... Our thoughts are with the family,” a statement from school administrators said.
For Melendez, Doub 's passing doesn't close any doors.
“It's something I'm going to have to live with. And I did what I could do,” he said. “In that moment nothing at all mattered. Not Mother's Day, not anything. It was just - this person was my whole life for just this moment. And I had to make sure everything I could do to help her that I could do.”
