Woman found dead after Falmouth house fire

FALMOUTH, Mass. — Fire officials are investigating the cause of a blaze in Falmouth where a 43-year-old woman was found dead.

The Falmouth Communications Center received a call shortly after 12 p.m. on Thursday reporting a house fire on

Edgewater Drive East. Falmouth Police said in a Facebook posting that fire and rescue crews discovered one person inside the home after entering the home.

The female victim, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Falmouth Fire Chief Michael Small told the Cape Cod Times there was light smoke showing from the home when crews arrived. The fire, which originated in a bedroom, was quickly extinguished.

The case is being investigated by the Falmouth police and fire departments, the Massachusetts Fire Marshal's Office and Massachusetts State Police detectives.
