CHATHAM, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – Researchers tagged a female white shark and five other sharks in the waters off Chatham over the last two weeks.
According to the Cynthia Wigren, President & Co-founder of Atlantic White Shark Conservancy, the white shark was estimated to be 17 feet long. She was tagged, named Luci, and a tissue sample was taken.
Luci was the first white shark tagged during the month of October off the coast of Cape Cod.
A tissue sample was also taken from a shark tagged last September. Two additional sharks were spotted.
The researchers were out on the tagging trip with the Cape Cod Shark Hunters.
