Webster driver accused of using blue light to impersonate a police officer

WEBSTER, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A 24-year-old Webster man has been arrested for impersonating a police officer after he reportedly used a flashing blue light to pull over a young woman.

Webster Police arrested William Ferrante for his alleged connection to an incident that occurred on March 5. A young woman told investigators she was traveling on Route 395 northbound when another driver pulled up behind her with a blue light on. The woman pulled over and allowed the driver to pass, but the driver slowed down and pulled behind her again without the light flashing.

The woman drove directly to her boyfriend's home out of fear for her safety. At this time, the driver approached her, identified himself as a military police officer, and demanded her license.

Ferrante was later identified by police as the driver involved in the incident. He was arrested and held on $240 bail.

Investigators claim Ferrante has used the blue light in the past to "slow cars down" when they speed past him on the highway. The 24-year-old would also reportedly use the light to warn traffic of an accident until the police arrived.

Ferrante is scheduled for arraignment on Thursday in Dudley District Court.
