Wahlberg family opens new restaurant at Fenway

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Dorchester natives Paul, Mark and Donnie Wahlberg celebrated the grand opening of the Fenway Whalburgers Thursday.

"I'm going to gain 10 pounds," said Donnie before entering the party.

"We're so excited to be near Fenway - it's Fenway," said Mark Wahlberg.

The casual burger restaurant plays off the Wahlbergs' last name, who own the chain. The ins and outs of Wahlburgers is featured in an A&E reality show. The menu includes burgers, hot dogs, milkshakes and alcohol.

"I'm training for a movie right now, so I can eat much. I had a piece of fish earlier," said Mark Wahlberg.

The Wahlberg family and the Gronkowski family, along with cast members from the show attended the grand opening at 132 Brookline Ave. It's the first Wahlburgers in Boston; other locations include Hingham and Lynnfield, Massachusetts as well as Coney Island in New York and Toronto.

Mark Wahlberg was wearing a rosary, which he said was blessed by the Pope. His mother said it was amazing to have her son lead the ceremony. The family attended Catholic Church while the kids grew up in Dorchester.

"We skipped out on church sometimes," admitted Donnie.

Paul Wahlberg is the executive chef and said for him, it's about serving great food to paying customers. All the brothers expressed excitement over the first opening in Boston.

Johnny Drama from the A&E show also walked the red carpet and said the Wahlbergs are his extended family and he loves working with them.

The staff played in a Tastee Burger vs Wahlburgers game earlier in the day at Fenway as part of the celebration, with Oust pitching. The Wahlbergs said it'll be an annual tradition.
