VIDEO: Crews use explosives to demolish the Long Island Bridge

(MyFoxBoston.com) -- The bridge that once led to Squantum's Long Island was demolished on Monday afternoon.

Crews used explosives to tear down the larger sections of the bridge.

The bridge was shutdown in October over safety concerns, cutting off access to Boston's largest rehab facility and homeless shelter.

Demolition was expected to cost upwards of $20 million.

A housing solution for those who lived in the housing shelter is still being built.
